Zen Furnitures & Ornaments by Kim Lenehan

Kim Lenehan lives within Australia's open eucalypt forest
which inspires his zen furniture.
Zen Furnitures is for lovers of wooden furniture and
ornaments made in weathered, gnarled and washed shapes. Some
of the timber is from savannah country with hot dry summers
and soaking wet seasons. Some was flushed out of the rivers
and onto beaches, becoming driftwood after Cyclone Larry.
The timber is all either hardwood seasoned from the sun or as
been immersed in water for a long periods, making it
exceedingly hard. The bleaching from the sun and weathering
from the rain accentuates the grains and hardens the timber
for that wonderful ancient and natural Zen look.
I live on the western slopes of the Great Divide in Far
North Queensland. My work was in the building industry and I
have been producing art work for 20 years or more. Mostly wood
and paintings. My place is 30 minutes out town and has no
mains power. The creeks can rise in the wet season and it's
usually cut off for, at least, several days each year. There
is lots of native wildlife around, some of it has got used to
me and is quite tame. My love of doing artwork soon found a
good medium in the shaped and weathered timbers that are in
the area. The country is old and ancient looking and the hot
and wet weather makes for some very zen shapes and effects.
For alll lovers of zen art, I hope you enjoy my site. Kim
